“I am a heart patient. My elderly mother and I lived in a mobile home that was totally destroyed by the hurricane. Needless to say, it was very important for us to find shelter as soon as possible due to health issues that my mother and I suffer from. I cannot thank you all enough for the more than generous donations that have provided us not only a place to temporarily live, but clothes on our back. Although I am still living in a hotel, I have not given up on the dream of having a permanent home of my own one day. Thanks to your generosity you have given me the strength to carry on.”

“Lost every possession I ever had. My neighborhood was covered by at least eight feet of water in St. Barnard Parish and everything with exception of a few pieces of clothing I took with me was there. Also due to a crude oil leak a few blocks over it is unlikely that I will be able to retrieve any salvageable possessions before the house is torn down by parish authorities. I consider myself fortunate that I’m alive and have a place to stay.”
