Cable Hope Fund
Donation Guidelines

General Criteria for Disbursement of Funds

  1. The mission of Cable Hope Fund (“Fund”) is to provide relief and assistance when disasters occur. The Fund does not exist to provide relief and assistance for sustained or systemic problems. Therefore, disbursements from the Fund will be made only to provide aid and relief in response to specific disasters.

  2. All monies donated to Cable Hope Fund in response to specific disasters will be disbursed to provide relief and assistance in the aftermath of those disasters.

    • No money will be carried by the Fund in ordinary circumstances except as necessary to keep the Fund’s bank account in operation.

    • Fees to administer and operate the Fund will be borne by the National Cable & Telecommunications Association.

  3. The three categories of primary recipients of disbursements from Cable Hope Fund will be:

    • Organizations or entities providing outreach to and/or support for cable industry employees and their families directly affected by the disaster, if applicable;

    • Established and reliable first responders to disasters (e.g., Red Cross, Project Hope);

    • Organizations or entities who can provide long term disaster relief, recovery services, and/or community rebuilding (e.g. Habitat for Humanity).

  4. It is intended that disbursements made from Cable Hope Fund in response to disasters will generally be spread across all three categories of recipients listed above. However, the total amount of disbursements made to an individual category relative to another category may vary depending on the nature of the disaster and the type of relief most needed.

  5. Preference will be given to established organizations that have proven effectiveness in providing aid and relief to disaster victims.

  6. Preference will be given to organizations providing the greatest possible disaster aid and relief and/or which aid the greatest number of disaster victims and their families.
